How it works.
foot.ink sells the ten toenails on one photograph as ten ad slots. Each opens at a dollar, the highest bid holds it, and on the first Monday of every month the polish comes off and they all start again.
Nobody has bid on it yet. 8 of 10 nails are still open.
Four steps
Every nail opens at a dollar
All ten, the big toe included. What a nail is worth is not something we decided in advance: it is whatever somebody pays for it this month.
Bid higher and the nail is yours
Pay more than whoever holds it, at least a dollar more, and it is yours. Pay well over and you are harder to push off. We email the person you took it from, so they can take it back.
Your image, on the gel
Upload a logo, or let us take the icon from the site you link. It goes on the nail itself, clipped to its real shape, and the polish takes its colour. Your name, your line and your link go on the lot card beside the photo.
The first Monday of the month, it all comes off
A pedicure does not last forever, so neither does the ad. On the first Monday of every month, at 13:00 UTC, the polish is redone, every nail drops back to a dollar and the board is empty. Nobody owns a nail: you rent one until the acetone.

Your logo on the nail
It is clipped to the nail’s real outline and turned with the toe, and the polish around it takes its colour. Anyone looking can zoom in and see it is really there.
A lot card
Your name, one line and your link, on the card that opens beside the photo when someone picks your nail. The line and the link are optional.
A link preview with your logo
Share the link to your nail, like foot.ink/?slot=L1, and the preview shows that nail with your logo on it and your name as the one holding it. Right after paying you get buttons to post it on X, send it on WhatsApp or copy it.

While you hold the nail, anyone who shares foot.ink itself — not just your link — sends a preview image with your logo on your toe, next to the other holders.
A badge for your site
An “As seen on foot.ink” badge and the code to paste it. It links to your nail.
An email if you are outbid
If somebody pays more, we tell you, with the price to take the nail back and a button that reopens the checkout with your name, link and logo already filled in. One click stops these emails.
First to know at the repaint
On repaint day, when every nail drops back to its base price at once, we email everyone who bought a nail in the last six months. You can take yours back before anyone else has opened the page.
A line in the archive
If you still hold the nail when the polish comes off, your name, logo, link and what you paid stay in the archive, under that month.

Questions
What is foot.ink?
Advertising space on a photograph. The ten toenails in the picture are ten ad slots. Your image goes on one nail, and your name, one line and a link go on the lot card beside the photo. The highest bid holds the nail until the polish comes off on the first Monday of every month.
What does a nail cost?
A free nail costs $1. A held nail costs more than its holder paid, at least a dollar more, and the exact minimum is shown before you pay. You can pay more than the minimum. Prices are before tax: depending on where you are, the total at checkout may be higher.
What happens if someone outbids me?
You lose the nail and the money is not returned: you had the space for the time you had it. We email you when it happens, with the price to take it back. Paying well over the minimum makes you harder to push off. If two payments are for the same amount, the earlier one holds the nail.
When does it reset?
The first Monday of every month, at 13:00 UTC. The polish is redone, every nail goes back to $1 and the board is empty. A nail bought late in the month still comes off at the repaint: the countdown on the home page is the exact deadline, and you see it before you pay.
What images can I put on a nail?
PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 256 KB. No SVG, no ICO. Or give us your link and we take the icon from your site. A square image fills the whole nail; a long one stays whole, on a background taken from its own colours. It has to be yours to use, and nothing illegal, sexual, hateful, deceptive or impersonating someone else: we take those down without a refund. The full list is in the Terms.
Are the links follow or sponsored?
Sponsored. Every link on a nail is marked rel="sponsored nofollow" and goes through a foot.ink redirect that counts the click. Search engines are told the link is paid, so it is not a backlink: what you buy is the placement and the people who click. The link is optional.
Who handles payment and tax?
Dodo Payments, the merchant of record. They are the legal seller: they take the payment, collect and remit VAT and sales tax, and handle chargebacks. The charge on your card is in their name. Card details never reach foot.ink.
Can I get a refund?
Being outbid, or reaching the repaint, is the product working and not a refund case. We refund in full if a payment cleared and no image went on a nail, if we took your image down by mistake, or if you were charged twice. Email hello@foot.ink with the payment reference from your receipt. Details on the Refunds page.
Is the foot a real person?
No. The photograph is computer-generated. It does not show a real person, and no real person’s likeness, identity or personal data is involved.
Where do past holders go?
To the archive. The repaint takes the polish off, not the history: every month lists who held each nail, with their logo, their link and what they paid.
